Licensing & Registration Process (UAE)

Licensing & Registration in the UAE (e.g. HAAD / DOH)

Your employer and MD Gulf will assist you step-by-step with the UAE healthcare licensing process. This process is required for all nurses, allied health professionals, and doctors wishing to practice in Abu Dhabi or Al Ain under the Department of Health – Abu Dhabi (DOH), formerly known as HAAD.

Steps to follow:

  1. DataFlow Verification
Submit your qualifications, employment history, and professional license for verification through the DataFlow Group. This is a mandatory step before license processing can proceed.

  2. Application Submission to DOH (HAAD)
After your DataFlow report is completed, your application will be submitted to the DOH licensing portal.

  3. Additional Document Requests
You may be asked to submit extra documentation, such as Good Standing Certificates, experience letters, or updated transcripts.

  4. Wait for Final Approval
The licensing process can take 6 to 12 months, depending on your profession, document completeness, and DOH processing times.

Note: Most South African nurses are currently exempt from writing the DOH licensure exam. However, final exemption is at the discretion of DOH and must be confirmed with your MD Gulf consultant.

Visa Process Once Licensed

Once your license is approved:

  1. UAE Entry Permit Issued
You will receive your UAE Entry Permit from your employer, allowing you to legally travel to Abu Dhabi.

  2. Present Entry Permit at Arrival
This permit must be presented at Abu Dhabi Airport for visa stamping and entry into the country.

  3. Travel Coordination & Support
    MD Gulf will assist with:

  • Flight booking
